LOCAL ARTISTS/CREATIVES HAVE YOUR WORK DISPLAYED ON THE MARKETPLACE HOARDINGS!
If you haven’t heard your GY Marketplace Poem – written by Ruthie Collins, inspired directly by all of your wonderful Marketplace stories and pictures and comments – take a look at the film here. The poem is read by Great Yarmouth residents and we thank them so much for being part of it. Poetry is meant to be read – so do please have a go at reading it aloud to yourself, your dog or your family.
As part of the regeneration of the Marketplace, we heard that Great Yarmouth Borough Council will be putting up hoardings around the marketplace. We have been given permission to print the poem across four panels of the hoardings – one panel per stanza.
We would like each panel to have gorgeous artwork complementing the corresponding stanza of the poem.
We would love:
- You to be inspired by the poem to create artwork for one panel
- You to interpret that through drawing or painting or collage and share it with us
- You to incorporate space for the poetry wording to be added on top of your design, centred on the panel
- Email us your design on hello@freshlygreated.org.uk by 12noon on 21st May 2021.
What will happen:
We will share the top designs for each panel – chosen by our Resident Producers – online and ask GY residents to vote on their favourite designs
The winning 4 designs for each stanza will then be sent to get printed and will form part of the Marketplace Hoardings.
Your Design
Your design may be very literal – perhaps you will recreate the lively market stalls and friendly faces or detail…or perhaps your design will be very abstract, capturing the bright colours and energy of the GY Easter fair.
